For two years in a row, Colegio de Dagupan accountancy students have dominated the Sycip, Gorres, Velayo and Co. (SGV) Cup in the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants' Regional Midyear Convention.
This year's champion is a senior BSA student in the person of Armando P. Alvendia Jr. The eleventh (11th) convention was held at Baguio City last September 23-25, 2012, which was participated in by 80 contenders. He will represent the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, Region I and CAR Council on October 23 -26, 2012 in Davao City for the National Midyear Convention.
Mr. Alvendia is a Presidential Scholar from Labrador, Pangasinan. He is the son of Armando and Trinidad Alvendia, the youngest of five children.
In the same convention, Rogie T. Sison, a senior BSA student and also a contestant, was declared as the champion of the President's Cup. In tandem with Mr. Alvendia, the duo placed 1st runner-up in the Accounting Quiz held last July 25, 2012, in celebration of the 61st Accountancy Week of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Pangasinan Chapter.
It will be recalled, that last year, then BSA senior student Marc Francis Cagaoan brought home the title as the National Champion in the SGV Cup.
