It’s another feat by the school.

Landeil M. Robles, a fourth year Mass Communication student, outperformed many professional broadcasters in Pangasinan as he topped the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster sa Pilipinas Accreditation Exam – Pangasinan Chapter  last December 6, 2008 at the Lyceum Northwestern University,  Dagupan City.

Robles got a score of 91, four points higher than the score of the second placer, Maria Francia P. Nugera, a reporter from ABS-CBN Dagupan.

Three other fourth year Mass Communication students from CdD made it to the top 10. They are: Therese T. Soriano, 4th place, Ma. Katrina M. Gonzales, 5th place, and Divina Gracia M. Vidal, 4th place. Completing the list of passers from CdD is Carben Carrera.

The said KBP Accreditation exam aims to professionalize the industry, making the radio and television broadcasters KBP – accredited.

Before the examinees underwent the exam, KBP legal counsel Atty. Regie Jularbal conducted a seminar centered on journalism ethics.

As stated in the KBP website, “the KBP implements an accreditation program for announcers as a means of raising the standards of professionalism in the industry. Unaccredited announcers may not go on air in KBP member stations. To be accredited, an announcer must pass an exam and must be endorsed by a KBP station. Accreditation entitles an announcer to accident insurance and death benefits. An announcer’s accreditation can be suspended or revoked for violation of the Broadcast Code.”
